This is the second of our Getting Started Sessions where we talk with Mark Anderson, CEO of the AC group, about the sorts of issues facing Doctors when their Hospital asks them to join their EMR.
This is a quick summary of the sort of questions and discussion contained within our discussion:
- Ambulatory EMR only or including Practice Management or will it interface to your existing systems?
- What happens to your current billing & administration system?
- Where is your data and how can you get your hands on it, or is your data on a shared database?
- What are the other Data Migration issues?
- The important Contract Issues.
- How flexible are the Hospitals?
- What are the recovery / response times for that EMR?
- How do Stark and CCHIT apply?
- Who does the training and support? Who is in charge of the Ambulatory EMR system?
- About 5% of hospitals are now offering some sort of solution; by summer 2008 over 40% hospitals may be offering an EMR.
- What's in it for the Hospital and what's in it for the Doctor?
- What are the likely savings for a Hospital in ER?
- What are the positives for the Doctor?
