System "UPTIME" is typically one of those forgettten, almost hidden items on your checklist for an EMR. This equals over 14 hours of downtime per month. Put another way, for a large 50 provider-practice, every minute down equals $529.00 per minute, more than $1.0M per year. If we then extrapolate a 4% downtime for a 200 providers-practice the numbers go through the roof to over $4M.
