Focus on Healthcare
Stepping in to promote Health Information Technology in Hospitals.
Hospitals and large medical groups aren’t the only parties interested in advancing health information technology.
Barbara Duck, a medical consultant who works with Community Hospital is also reaching out to physician practices with Tablet Kiosk’s EO ultra mobile portable computer (UMPC), a tablet PC device – with desktop replacement capabilities – that could help bring the healthcare industry into a “paperless realm.”
For physicians who travel to multiple sites, the UMPC can do a lot to prevent medical errors. “The big thing right now for physicians is to have mobility along with complete patient records. It allows the physician to make a good decision even if they’re called up in the middle of the night”, Duck said.
And hospitals that can’t afford a complete EHR conversion can consider switching the most important areas – like the emergency room, for example. “I would say that’s probably the primary area where it could be utilized first,” she said. “If information is available on a patient, this really is advantageous for ER doctors…so they can see right up front if a patient has allergic reactions to a specific medicine.”
