I hope this proves to be useful and does get collaboration moving with innovation. My thoughts are that we have tons of innovation but a real lack of collaborating as there’s never a shortage of Entrepreneurs running around the US. There is a problem though of them getting money to grow though...

Every week I read in the news “we need more innovation” and for goodness sakes in Health IT we have innovation running out our ears! Everyone is so busy building the better mouse trap that we have forgotten how to collaborate and work together. We are seeing some signs of this and it usually...

Why is this happening, time is one element and complicated medical records systems are another. Almost every doctor who has converted will tell you that in beginning there is a loss of productivity and this is due in part to the learning curve anyone has with software. That part is not unique...

I am foremost and upfront all about having medical records and if you have read this blog long enough you know that I developed and wrote one years back, thus my comments tend to be realistic and I comprehend the fact that we can’t just jump on every new piece of software or algorithm that appears. ...

It may be a while before meaningful use gets its full authority and I do hope they included medical devices in the interpretation too. What devices and their reporting data is meaningful? CCHIT has the authority to certify according to the news today until the end of the year. BD The...

This article makes a lot of sense and I have said somewhat the same in various posts over the last year, and this is where aggregating data is coming in to play, one place to add, edit and read information. One other item that I think has potential is the Common User Interface, so why can’t all...

Hard Hat Area: The University is soon to post on CodePlex, the open source community page from Microsoft. What is amazing to me is the fact that the Popfly platform was used for Silvermap, so now we have bio-mashups too. The processing of images can now take place at the desktop instead...

There are a couple things Netflix is doing right, and it has to do with technology. They were one of the early users of Server 2008 and Silverlight from Microsoft and now that is beginning to pay off well, as movies can be paid for online and streamed, which means no sending a DVD through the mail...

I have written quite a bit about the topic as well. I do agree we need to have certification that the software will perform as sold, no doubt and that’s like getting the UL approval for electrical devices in short, but the fees and money involved have been the big issue. Smaller EHR/EMR companies...

The article states this is the 6th year in a row that funding has declined for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The grants and funds available at the NIH are more difficult to secure as well. The NIH has set up it’s own Foundation as well, looking for donations. Last week...

The story here is the reliability so with not having to mess around with sending DVDs back and forth in the mail and answering other related questions, the need for support has dropped as technology is better. The Common User Interface from Microsoft for Medical Records is also powered by Silverlight...

This article offers some very good insight here and I’ll add my 2 cents worth as well. We all know that documentation, no matter what kinds it is, paper or electronic is mandatory to good healthcare, but technology creates it own set of new issues too, so it’s not a matter of get electronic records...

One of the messages coming from the meeting is that they believe they can learn from the mistake made in the US, and there were representatives from the US at the meeting. Karl Brown believes it might be easier to achieve interoperability in developing countries than in the U.S. or Europe. “You...

Another updated video on the interface, again it would be nice to have the same visuals at every hospital and perhaps doctor’s offices with the existing programs still running in the background, only the user interface would need to change. This video takes a little extra time to walk through the...
