If you are a regular reader here at the Quack, I have had a small campaign going on with posts about how this technology could solve a lot of issues, main one being some ideas with recalls at the FDA. Microsoft Tags was kind enough today to include my thoughts today so in case you are not on Twitter...

Now with your cell phone connection, cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillator (CRT-D) or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) are monitored through the CareLink Network. The cell phone connection is taking over with implants reporting data. I have done several posts over the...

You have to love this one, but overall it’s a good cause and that you can’t debate. BlackBerrys will give them something to do with their hands is part of the connection here. I don’t think the government is picking up the monthly bill though but you can have full text messaging support here. ...

I have posted about Windows Tag and their potential use for identifying recalled medical device and their use with keeping a lid on drugs too, but the FDA won’t even give me an answer. Read the link below for a rather lengthy post I did on the suggestion. This is free and has the potential of saving...

If you don’t want to manually type in all those contacts, here’s the answer and you will have to check for accuracy but correcting a few items certainly is better than inputting all the information. I don’t see anything yet for Windows Mobile but will keep looking. The price of $5.99 is reasonable...

It certainly seems that Nuance has just about captured most of the speech recognition companies out there today and with this acquisition , they are even more entrenched into the mobile market with cell phones. Just last month they introduced their product for the iPhone. Nuance Dragon Dictation...

This is a bit of a departure from the blog, but this device works. If you don’t happen to have a late model care with blue tooth embedded, get this. If you travel and use rental cars, this is the answer. We all know about the laws for using a cell phone in a car and this solves the...

I talk quite a bit about medical devices that report data and send text messages here and the need for proper implementation. We have a bit of a Catch 22 situation going on here as the companies that make the devices and software want a return on their investment , with many being backed by Venture...

This looks to be a solution to helping the consumer get connected, selecting the devices they feel are beneficial or perhaps recommended by their physicians or wellness coach programs. As mentioned in many posts on the blog here, blue tooth is rapidly changing the way we interact with medical devices...

This comes from using LEDs added to the phone and uses software to analyze. I had to look at this twice and the add on for the phone is only around $10.00. They are working on finding out how to identify smaller viruses but feel a device like this one could be used to diagnose malaria easily...

Stanford Hospital and Clinics started a trial program recently with Apple, as they also use Epic. Why does this not surprise me? Epic has to be the most popular large hospital software around today and the iPhone the same for cell phones. I did an interview earlier this year with Long...
