Since its start in 2007, Chilmark Research has kept a fairly low profile as analyst firms go, focusing on a few discrete domains of healthcare IT (HIT). A little over a week ago Google stated that it was putting a stake through the heart of their personal health platform (PHP) Google Health. We at Chilmark had been expecting this for some time, it was just a manner of when it would become official. Thus, we were somewhat taken aback by all the [...]

I tried this out a few times and it’s true, when you search for an item, “Google Health” results are at the top of the heap. This is one example and I did a few more. What I saw next didn’t necessarily make me happy but it allows you to get an alert if they discover any security breaches...

The National Health Information Network already exists and to date has never been tested for the public to use, but the move to shift all of healthcare to it’s own network is a big one, so I would guess you could think of a separate entire entity here, used for healthcare information only. The...

I like the name “ Minimally Invasive EHR”, of course it reminds you of minimally invasive surgery procedures. Of course it will integrate with Google Health too, as that should be a given here. Maybe now we might start hearing some stories and experiences with actual employees who use Google...

This would absolutely be one move for the better, people that understand algorithms and software. Note the mention below on the initiatives that reference Google and Microsoft. I also agree that there needs to be both open source and proprietary software throughout, mixed and combined as...

This is a good pilot program but the real danger here is: “Each vendor will be responsible for marketing its program to consumers, and each has adopted its own privacy protections.” Once more the consumer will be subjected to additional marketing and thrown a bone to figure out which choice they feel...

When this technology came out, there were many questions about privacy, and the chip needs to have a facility with a “chip reader” as well, so to get everything going it does take some coordination. In the meantime, the PHR movement is moving quickly in some real positive directions as there is...

I haven't even begun to start with the Health Vault for myself...now there's Google, so here goes...I am already signed up with Google for a number of online services, including this blog, so the creation of the file was pretty simple and effortless. Google and its decision support partners include...
