I wish I could answer that. As one of the organizers/speakers at the convention, I am aware of some details of upcoming features, but I am afraid of shooting my mouth off too much, as I don't work for AC or officially represent them (just a fan!).
Brian Cotner, M.D. - Family Practitioner First Amazing Charts Users' Conference Branson, Missouri - June 20-22, 2008
There are so many of us here that have followed AC developments over many years. Its exciting to see the passsion AC users have towards their EMR
and exciting to see Jon's passion for providing a "bang for the buck" solution. Development processes have been slow, but steady, and always Amazing.
Looking forward to the news and features that are upcoming from the conferance in a month.
Jon has written many times of moving to an SQL database and stepping towards a full practice management system for billing/clear house connection. Jon listens to his user base.
He has actually programmed some stuff I requested ( inking body parts) and I'm not even a user ! When I compare AC to other EMRs and price to functionality, I don't understand why other EMRs aren't lowering their prices to the AC standard. Obviously Jon's business model is succeeding.
From the usergroup message boards, what are the top 5 requests you hear users wanting in AC ?
Well, sometimes it seems like every user wants something different!
Some people think the change to SQL is going to make a big difference.
Obviously, a lot of users would like an integrated PM system. However, a lot of our present users have already found workarounds that they are happy with, and just want their workarounds to work better!
Likewise, a lot of folks would like to see an integrated Chronic Health Registry. Others feel that such stuff is mumbo-jumbo and don't want the program cluttered and bloated with inessentials.
I think the typical Amazing Charts users' practice models are based on having a quick, inexpensive, intuitive EMR, and they would like to have a lot of these features, but at the same time don't want to louse up a good thing. I think the idea that every EMR needs every feature is misguided. After all, are any two practices exactly alike?
I know that Jon is working on all of these projects presently, as well as a number of other keen improvements. I credit a lot of Jon's success to his very simple, direct approach to these kinds of problems in the past.
>>I think the typical Amazing Charts users' practice models are based on having a quick, inexpensive, intuitive EMR,..<<
Yep, not only is it easy to use, but the install and setup is so dirt simple. If you download, install and use the latest beta, you will experience functional simplicity right from the get go. How many EMRs are like this? With SQL, the easy setup will be a challenge.

It's all these high school graduation parties. I'm the entertainment. ;-)
The forum is becoming more active. Does Jon visit it often?

Question for techies: MS SQL Express versus MySQL
What are the advantages of SQL Express over MySQL?
What are the advantages of MySQL over SQL Express ?
It is a User's forum. It's where Amazing Charts users hang out and chat, essentially. Jon occasionally pops in to make an announcement.
However, our User discussions sometimes turn into good ideas for features, which may then be transmitted to Jon, which may later be incorporated into the program.
Has a conference schedule been posted ? Topics and speakers?

Do you know many doctors who are using Dragon Dictation for note taking within AC ?
Here is a thread about people complaining about their EMRs. I notice that no one using AC has posted.

Do you know what the failure rate of implementation is with AC ? How many doctors pay the $1,000 for the software and decide it failed them ?

I like their pledge:
Our Pledge: We will treat you fairly, honestly, and the way we would want to be treated ourselves. We want you to be thrilled! Thrilled with our cost, our software, and our services. Happy clients mean good word-of-mouth, and good word-of-mouth is why we are one of the fastest growing EMR companies in the country. (We, of course, expect the same from you in return.)
<<Do you know many doctors who are using Dragon Dictation for note taking within AC ?>>
Quite a few, actually. It works great for me (I actually couldn't do without it). I know a few people who have tried Dragon with AC and weren't happy with it, but I think this was due to Dragon problems or user problems, and not AC problems, and I am ready to defend that statement.
<<Here is a thread about people complaining about their EMRs. I notice that no one using AC has posted.>>
I think AC's free trial and straightforward interface allows people to try it out, and discard it if it's not for them. You ought to know after three months whether it's something you can live with.
We all have little things we would like to be different, hence we have a forum called "Wish List", but AC users are also good at coming up with "workarounds", ways of incorporating cheap or free third-party utilities to accomplish our ends.
Occasionally, we'll get somebody on the User Board who is truly unhappy. It's usually someone looking for NextGen features at shareware prices. You generally do get what you pay for. I think you get more than you pay for with Amazing Charts. It sounds like a lot of people get less.

Here is a link to a couple of videos we've produced showing how Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical works with Amazing Charts: http://www.1450.com/dns/amazingcharts/
Hope this lends some insight into the combination

Thanks, Eric. I have linked to those movies in the past, over on the User Board. They were very helpful. I appreciate the services you provide.
