My EMR, MediSoft/MediNotes, is wholly contained on my office computers. That was one of my selection criteria back in 2003.
It looks like MediSoft is brain dead and I will be forced to eventually migrate to an integrated, CCHIT compliant, EMR/PM.
Ah ha! Do you think ....
The real issue behind CCHIT is making every doctor's financial medical practice an open book to the government, "insurers", Homeland Security, and who knows who else.
The real issue behind CCHIT is making every patient's medical record an open book to the government, "insurers", Homeland Security, and who know who else.
Do you want life or health "insurance"? You have consent to give the company unlimited access to your CCHIT compliant EMR to peruse at will. Your whole-life EMR will be scanned for words like depressed, alcohol, anxiety, suicide, etc. - anything to up charge or deny.
Do want a driver's license? Do you want to board an airplane? Do you want to attend a public school? Consent! Or not.
Your whining about non-CCHIT compliant EMR will not be heard. Your arguments have nothing to do with the real reason for CCHIT.
Ah....but you don't even need to go to that much trouble anymore, since everybody is going to happily upload their entire medical history into the Google PHR - finest search engine already built in...

Indeed, many good points made on this thread. With the evolution of Web 2.0 and the sharing and exchanging of data, it's a whole new world and privacy issues are right at the forefront. I think you made some very good points here regarding the EMR/Practice management software of the future and how this is evolving in front and around us, basically something as small individuals an area where we are finding we have such a small amount of influence as well. It's almost downright scary to say the least, but it is the big white elephant in the living room that we can't ignore as well.
I have posted about this quite a bit on the blog, to the point of Congress not even knowing what the FBI has in their data bases and how they are using the information. It is an area without bounds in a sense as there's really nobody minding the shop at the top of the helm and until someone notices and brings it to someone's attention, collecting and using data continues and the very thing we are working towards with better health care with documentation is exploited for the sake of money only and it makes the task twice if not more difficult to work towards better heatlh care for all. The general public is just now becoming aware of data mining and sharing practices that have been going on for years, as this information is now being queried and scrutinized to determine who is going to be part of the "haves" and who will be shifted to the "have not" groups. It's a definite demise of the middle class unfolding in front of us every day in the US.

CCHIT is a by vendors, for vendors organization. In the end, their primary mandate is to serve themselves, not the government.
Ask Medisoft if you can hold off on the upgrade.
"Ask Medisoft if you can hold off on the upgrade."
I just won't do it. Everything runs on my server.
NPI compatibility was the last twist of the arm.
DrMurdoch: CCHIT is a by vendors, for vendors organization. In the end, their primary mandate is to serve themselves, not the government.
Now that they have asked for government mandates to require CCHIT they have lost control.

I am totally confused on the message of this thread. Is it that Hal3 is looking to change from his happy Medisoft/EMR combination to a EMR/PM integrated solution? Or is it that Medisoft is pissing him off so he is looking else where?
Not sure, not easily confused, but I am here. Can't understand any of the messages.
Medinotes is the EMR. Medisoft the PM.
Medinotes buys Bond - ASP integrated EMR\PM system
The rest is self explanatory.....
Ok,
So Bond, a average EMR/PM was purchased by Medinotes. That does not mean Medisoft is going by the wayside. Actually it could in the long run not help Medinotes at all as there very large reseller base may decide screw Medinotes, I think we will resell another EMR.
Therefore, I think the take home message would be that Physicians will be able to stay with Medinotes and Medisoft. That the reseller channel for Medisoft is not going to switch that fast. Many Medisoft Dealers have not been overly happy with Medinotes anyway.
I had a suspicion that bond would be purchased by someone, its about time.
I missed this completely. Still vague why this physician feels some need to change. Medinotes has a large install base compared to Bond.
Nothing in these posts is self explanatory, I am still confused. And still don't understand what a big deal is that Medinotes in a attempt to get a PMS buys Bond.
I will separate the MediSoft thread. Go to the billings forum.
This thread is for conspiracy theorists only.
I am not a conspiracy theorists, maybe that is why I am so confused. Believe me it ain't easy to confuse me.
