Terry, how do you avoid paying a license for each of these free versions for mysql?

Astute question - if DescriptMED is not GPL, nor an OSI approved license then they would have to purchase an OEM Commercial License (as far as I know which is not far).

According to the MySQL Team that I deal with, you are absolutely correct. I also understand from them that you only have to pay a fee if your program requires MySQL.   The DescriptMED program, The Chart!, is also able to use MS SQL database via SQL Server Express, therefore it is not dependent on MySQL.   Another thing, you cannot distribute MySQL as a part of an install package.   DescriptMED does not do that.

For clarity sake , DescriptMED has paid many a license fee to MySQL to date, until the MS SQL version became available.
