Our practice (1 dr, 1 np) is looking into purchasing ehr (to integrate w/pm or one that does both). From what we've heard we're assuming nextgen/allscripts/mckesson/greenway will probably be too expensive and seem to focus on large practices. we're looking into a certified product b/c the incentives seem to be directed towards those and one that works for smaller practices. we came across two (so far)...we found initial costs per physician. but does anyone have complete pricing (mainly additional ongoing monthly/annual + extra fees) and any pros/cons for these two? or suggestions for other affordable solutions that are also certified? Thank you.

There are no certified products for the new incentives.
Far better to purchase based on how well it works for you than on any incentive scheme which you may or may not end up qualifying for ...

Have you looked at a demo of SuiteMed (Meditab IMS). We have the most outstanding Distributors/Vars in the industry and we come very highly recommended.
If you are looking for an affordable integrated EMR that is 2008 CCHIT certified, please call us at (888) 937-0999 ext. 1 or 2 and we will be more than willing to assist you!

Since you asked, you may want to look at our EHR. We are 2007 and 2008 (market conditional) CCHIT certified. We do not charge for HL7 interfaces to other practice management systems but also have a PM partner if you want a new PM. We are an Internet based system and our price is $1,995 per Provider Start-up for set-up, training and customizations and $460 per Provider per month. We are offering some discounts until 9/30 because we feel the onslaught of ARRA/Stimulus buyers on the rise.
I agree with the previous poster. The certification for ARRA/Stimulus has not yet been determined. However, systems that are already certififed probably have a leg up and have already demonstrated a committment to certification. If its really important to you, make sure the vendor is contactually obligated to meeting the ARRA/Stimulus criteria.
There are enough certified vendors (over 50 for 2008 at last count) that if this is important to you, it should still give you a wide variety of vendors to choose from.
We have a good 12 step selection plan outlined on our Blog that is vendor neutral. You should be able to use it to choose the best EHR for you, even if we are not a candidate. It should also keep you from wasting too much of your time on demos. That is the biggest selection mistake I see providers make - jumping to demos without having their criteria down.

Since you asked - you can look at our EHR i.e. TECNEX POMS (EMR+PM)(www.clinicbusinesspartner.com/emr.html). If interested, I can demo it to you. The price is less than other products in the market. Its an integrated EHR/PM System. No monthly costs. It does everything that any other EMR/EHR would do. eClinical is not a bad choice and so are others out there - they may all not work for smaller practices though (price and recurring costs etc.). A lot of people also look here (this site has a good price matrix for potential buyers and may help you): http://www.emrandhipaa.com/wiki/EMR_and_EHR_Matrix. This is not a vendor site. Good luck with your search

We use medlink & there is some info that i need to share . What is your practice speciality is there a number i can reach you at .
Choosing Medlink was the worst decision our practice made & we are paying the price for it , its a very poorly written software & they are in an experimental stage.
I had eCW for 6 years. It gets the job done but there are better options that are more affordable..imho.

There are no inexpensive CCHIT EMRs that will not suck the life out of your practice eventually. Its just a question of how quick they do it or whether you are strong enough absorp the loss.

Totaly agree !
My inference on Medlink has nothing to do with its cost. Couple insurance claims that we bill can very easily abosorb the cost of this software. The problem with this EMR is that there is no reliability in terms of data or accountability from people who run this company. They are just taking physicians for ride.

Medlink is CCHIT 2008 certified.
Did that enter your buying decision?
Yes! That was one important criteria that influenced our decision to purchase MEDLINK. But bad products like Medlink that are unfortunately CCHIT certified makes one doubt the reliability of other good vendors.
CCHIT certification only certifies that you might be able to get government handouts... or maybe not. It does not certify usability, which is why the literature pegs the failed installation rate at 50% and the deinstallation rate at 8%.
On Medlink The physicians data is out of physicians control which means To make a simple change to a patients insurance policy , To find out how many patients were paid on a medicare check,To delete a check or reverse a transaction , or to find out what a practice billed & what was collected You totally have to depend on the vendor as medlink has no features to find this out , this they do not tell in their demo. The biggest shocker however is MEDLINK giving a cold call to all their clients & announcing that they dont have a clearing house that works with them which means none of the practices that use medlink since last 2 weeks can longer send any claims.
My suggestion would be to sign with a reputed / reliable vendor & not compromise on the price. Have you loked into SEQUELMED, ALLSCRIPTS or PRACTICE ONE ???
Good luck.
