I can tell you that Medisoft v15 is compatible with Vista 32-bit. I have setup plenty of these. When Medisoft starts up it attempts to "call home" to look for updates, etc. There is probably an incompatibility that is preventing this from happening. Look for firewall pop-ups asking to allow MAPA.EXE. I have found the latest McAfee antivirus to be incompatible with Medisoft. McAfee must be completely uninstalled to get Medisoft to work. There are other known incompatible programs.

The Best is Yet to Come
I followed the previous comments and the MediData and Medisoft folders were not "read only". Then I allowed all permissions to all users, including myself and administrator. I don't have McAfee installed. But I do get a popup saying "an unidentified program wants to access computer", allow or not allow access to Mapa.exe. I say Allow. The Medisoft Advanced program opens, I see everything, but can't click on anything because it hangs, and there's a little circle revolving. On the top title bar it says "Not responding". I have not yet entered the serial #. Because I can't enter it!
Not sure what else I can do....
Vista must be the business edition, is that what you have?

NO, but I should mention that Medisoft worked fine on it for 6 months.
Also I wanted to mention that I read somewhere to press F7 as Medisoft starts up. When I press that, instead of asking me where the data file is, I get this error msg:
Error reading cbSortBy.Items.Strings: Cannot create form. No MDI forms are currently active
problem still not resolved....someone please help! Thanks!
If it worked before, but doesn't now, there's an issue with your windows.
Run as Administrator should resolve any security issues with Windows ... and if that doesn't work, reformat and reinstall Windows.
Or, roll the system back to when it last worked ..using system restore.

What did MediSoft technical support say?
Graham's logic is sound. If it worked before and does not work now figure out what changed and roll back.
Most important. Are you getting paid? Or is this only an issue on single computer that you are trying to get up and working?

it seems like a windows update issue, roll back the service pack from windows update.

We are resellers of Eclipsys and McKesson solutions, one of the largest in the nation.
Really,
Joe, your signature claims that you are one of the largest Mckesson resellers in the nation, then you claim that you convert Medisoft and Lytec products for free. Maybe you forgot that Medisoft and Lytec are Mckesson products, it sound very funny.

Hi Gavin,
Can you please tell me whether Medisoft 15 is compatible with Windows 7 -64 bit? Thx
We have found the core Medisoft, Office Hours, and Advantage database to all work just fine on 64-bit Windows. Although it is not officially supported by McKesson yet, we support it. I would recommend you go with Windows 7 Pro because it networks easier and you can run incompatible apps in XP Mode.
With that said, there are many add-on products that work with Medisoft, but do not work on 64-bit Windows. Here are the list of products I know of: Codes on Disk, Encoder Pro, Communication Manager, Revenue Management, and Medisoft Clinical. If you are using another add-on, you better check to find out that it is compatible.
There is a big push to get everything ready for 64-bit Windows for Medisoft v16 which is due out sometime in March. This is a tall order given the large list of add-ons, so I'll believe it when I see it. If you want Medisoft v16 we are running a pre-order special. All new and upgrade v16 are 40% off.
I'm writing this question from a Windows 7, 64 bit Business OS , quad 4 with 8 gigs of Ram.
My question is: What is going to be different (subjectively for the buyer) with YOUR 64 bit software program?
Surely, you are not going to claim it will be twice as good as the contemporary 32 bit that we all use!
