Hi.  I am still using medinotes as well, version 5.2.32.  My server recently crashed and I have to update to a new server with OS server 2008 standard R2.  I was wondering if anybody knows if I can run medinotes on this OS.  Medinotes support states that they are not sure.

Thanks in advance

I have found the latest version of MediNotes to be very problematic at best on Windows Server 2008 R2.  I'm going to have to recommend you migrate to a supported product.

Medinotes may not play well with the 64-bit O/S. You could setup a virtual server within Hyper-V on that O/S and then install a supported guest O/S to run Medinotes in. We are doing this for a customer of ours and the guest O/S is Windows 2008 Standard 32-bit (not R2) and it runs just fine.

If you also happen to be using Medisoft, we also offer a low-cost conversion to Medisoft Clinical if you need it. Medisoft Clinical (as well as most other EMRs that are kept up-to-date by their parent company) will run on Windows 2008 R2.

We're using Medinotes in VMWare Server Free 2.0 successfully since January when our server died. The host server is running on Windows Server 2003 64-bit, and the OS inside the virtual machine is Windows Server 2008 32-bit. We're running Medinotes workstations on Windows 7 32-bit and also in XPMode (which is 32-bit) and in VirtualBox on Windows XP Pro 32-bit for those computers that have issues in Windows 7.

We've run into an issue with some Windows 7 32-bit machines where when we select a patient chart from the incomplete list, it crashes Medinotes. But if we search for the patient and open their records that way, it doesn't crash Medinotes.

I worked for Medinotes Support for over 7 years, before support stopped the Support. If you have problems with transferring it, you can contact me. That stuff is usually very simple.

I am a past Medinotes Support Tech.

You probably have to have version 5.3 before it is 64 bit compatible.

For Windows 7, you have to have version 5.4

To create Doctors you need the final release 5.5

If you need assistance, you can email me at Patnp@msn.com
