I actually had a dream about EMRs last night:
Physicians and vendors were on an ATV camping trip celebration after the EMRupdate conferance. Trails, campfires, good food. One afternoon we came up on a knoll and looked over a large field where an elk herd was grazing. Out of nowhere, a big monster from the past appeared and terrorized us all. A tyrannosaurus rex to be exact. We were at our whits end in fear of extinction by what we thought was extinct. Some wanted to stick together, others wanted to go out on their own. Eventually it was decided to stick together in one pack for safety. One night we all lay hidden under our tarps to hide from the hungry dinosaur. The sky was clear. From above we witnessed a UFO slowly descending. In fear we covered our eyes under the tarp. Out of curiosity, we slowly began peeking out from under and there in front of us stood an alien. A magnificent being with grand luster of light. At first we were not accepting of the alien due to fear. Until he reached out and handed us the future beyond anything anyone has currently imagined.
Then my dream ended.
Is there anyone who would like to interpret my dream?
1) We're all enjoying and celebrating on the same trail.
2) What is the dinosaur?
3) How accepting are we of new alien ideas that come from out of nowhere ?
4) WE ALL STOOK TOGETHER

The “Dinosaur” represents your “Past,” and/or possible insecurities trying to bring you down as you venture out into your New Practice. ("quite understandable")
The “People” celebrating with you on the Camping Trip; who stuck by your side, represents all of the the people on this “Forum” that you feel very comfortable with, and this represents the "Present Moment."
The “Alien;” (that you were unsure about) represents your uncertainty regarding your “Future Endeavors,” (new practice) which is also unknown to you, but looks very bright ("grand luster of light as you described it") to everyone around you.

Maybe I should take a shot at this. My credibility? First, I dreamt of the exact age my grandfather would die. A year before he died, Second, I dreamt of my dog drowning in front of me and despite my attempts to pull her up she refused to staring at me as if to say this is where I should be. She died of ALL is 2 months. . Weird huh!
The status quo. We do not want to think outside of the box. Why bother thinking of our worries.
The Dinosaur in your dream represents a powerful entity. In our case Government, Regulators, Insurances, i.e. 3rd party payors that can decide our individual faith. Well maybe CCHIT. Somebody that can compromise our original intent to become a Physician. Somebody that is devouring us quickly!
May also represent inability to look back on past mistakes to correct the future. As the saying goes, History repeat itself. We were unprepared in that dream. Hiding behind a Tarp? Why not in a cave like our Ancestors did? Why did we not try to use force in that dream? Would "closing our eyes" make the problme go away? Or we close our eyes to what is obviously wrong!
What strucks me in that dream, was the Sky was clear. It is obvious - Al and Praxis were the Aliens! Fear them not. ROFL. .
The sky is clear, EMR's have to be the answer. Patients have to fill out their histories. As Physician shortage is in the horizon.
Well that is how we should. Working together. But unfortunately each one have their own agenda. The Proprietary nature of EMR's make me wonder if there truly is a benevolent one where money is no object.
However I also wonder if all these Dinosaurs would disappear and cause us no fear just like in the dream if we can foresee the future by basing it on a benevolent goal.
Did the best Inventors and Innovators thought of money and power first before they came up with their important inventions? Did Bill Gates et. al. foresee domination and control first or started with a true bonafide desire to make life easier?

If a dog is dead or dying in your dream, then it indicates the loss of a good friend.
To see someone drowning in your dream, suggests that you are becoming too deeply involved in something that is beyond your control.
