I own a small but growing Medical Billing Company.  I am wondering if any one has experience with a group that might work with smaller volumes of patients but is reputable.

I have lost the other one I was working with and I know most of them do not want to waste time with smaller companies.

I figured someone here might give me some leads as I have posted and helped answer things in the past.

Thanks so much,

Norv

Have you found what you were looking for?  Were you looking for a collection agency to work with or a new software vendor for your billing service.  I would like to see if I can help but need to understand what you are looking for and if in fact you are still looking.

 Best regards,

"I want to offer a personal touch that works with patients not super hard collectors."

If you are the patient's doctor that is what is needed.  I think most hardball collectors work for radiologists, pathologists, and anesthesiologists who either never have contact with the patient or do not expect to do so in the future.

As of today I have never turned a patient over to collections.

There are just some cases where you have to.  My goal as stated is to use them when they do not respond or make arrangements with myself for my doctors.  I understand that people get in situations.  My Doctors respect the fact that I respect their patients first.  The bottom line is as in any other field,  people are entitled for compensation in a timely manner for services that are performed.

I will certainly turn over a person to collections whom refuses in all ways to make payments to my physicians.  I am their Billing Company, it is what I am supposed to do.

As stated,  I was looking for a Collection Company that would not mind working with a small volume of patients referred to them.

Compassion does not mean lack of Compensation.

"As of today I have never turned a patient over to collections."

I probably should have.  I agree with your position on collecting for your Docs.

I have used this company located in California

Collection Bureau of America 25954 Eden Landing Road Hayward CA 94545 Phone: (510) 781-5198 Fax: (510) 781-5194

http://credit-connection.com/

I like them for several reasons:

1. They have web-based software where you can log in 24/7 anywhere you have internet access and check the status of your patients account, what has been done, last contact etc.

2. Liscenced to collect in 50 states (if your patient moves out of state you can still collect the balance)

3. full service Collection Agency, with extensive experience in letter notices, live agent inbound & outbound calls, skip tracing, credit reporting, batch tracking, and over 47 years of collection knowledge

I have referred many of my clients to Medical Collections Specialists out of Indiana.  www.medicalcollectionsspecialists.com

They are very compassionate but definitely have a high collection rate because patients seem to want to pay them first due to that same compassion.

I would highly recommend them for your clients as well.

Good Luck!

BTW, Green Flag is the company AthenaHealth chose to do collections for their 13,000 physicians.

Each state has their own representative.   It bought the package that costs $10.50 per client to send to collections.  I pass that cost down to the client plus an additional $15.   I am also setup to send insurance companies to collections if they have not paid by day 61.  I just enter the info on their website to initiate the mailing process of getting my money due.   Within Athena PMS, they have it totally integrated.

Great idea!

How is that working?

My question more is like on day 61 do you understand the EOB's and or messages as to why they are not paying?

I certainly am not defending the Insurance Companies,  but understanding the denial or why that they are not paying is half hte battle.
