Someone had some concerns about Catalis, and now the post is gone.
Dr. Jon, please comment on Catalis and how things are going there.
Could a moderator please inform us why this post was removed ?
My EMR is: Synapse It is what we know already that often prevents us from learning. Pioneers are the ones with the arrows in their backs.
Dr. M,
I asked Mr. Gleeman to remove the post and he agreed to do so. The reason was that initially the title was incorrect, but more importantly, even once the title was corrected, the initial post or two in the thread contained wildly incorrect information that could harm the reputation and financial interests of Catalis, which by the way, is still quite firmly in existence.
As a representative of Catalis (newly elected as a boardmember for 2008) I couldn't stand by and let people click through a link about Catalis and see alarming information that was patently untrue.
Catalis is in the process of moving to a new office that is adequate to comfortably fit all of our personnel. The phone systems were taken down, and are not completely back up, but the customer servers and customer support department have continued to operate seamlessly. We are changing our corporate structure and strategy quite a bit, which may have led to the rumors of our closing.
If anyone has further information I will be glad to share what I can.
Dr. Jon Edwards, Catalis board of directors
EDIT - err, I meant "questions"... further questions.

The first post from from Catherine Huddle, from Sevocity, who Robert Gleeman has just complemented in another thread. ("what a small practice wants in support!!!")
Google has the archive here http://tinyurl.com/2sjr9u
Since the first post looked like it was from a real person at a real company, it didn't smell like a drive-by.
Perhaps Catherine found out that the information was incorrect, and requested the thread to be removed.
The disappearing posts are reminiscent of the book 1984, where they would go back and change newspapers and books whenever they wanted to change history. In the virtual world, it is quite easy to change everything.
So that we don't develop any conspiracy theories, it might be nice to see a short 'post retracted by author' note or the like when this happens. Newspapers print corrections and amplifications for this purpose. They want to keep the record straight. I corrected a post that had some inadvertent misinformation in it, and I noted the editing at the time. Why can't the moderators do that too?

Reddy, guess I hit 'post' while you were composing yours. Hope that answers your question.

Jon,
You should thank Dr Murdoch for asking this question.
If he hadn't, I and perhaps hundreds of others, would have been under the impression that Catalis was having problems.
Perhaps the moderator could have changed the title, and you could have added this information to the thread.
That would have fully repudiated the original post, perhaps in a more complete and efficient fashion.
Reddy, the information was very specific and designed to look like an insider was the source. It was also flat wrong. I'd much rather explain in this thread than have that one still exist. If had been just a vague rumor or question I would agree with you wholeheartedly that it would be more simple just to address it there, but this almost seemed designed to cause panic and could well have caused our employees and shareholders lots of grief.

Something nobody needs.....glad you took the time to address us personally too rather than getting something else from the grapevine. Will see you at HIMMS as I see you are registrered exhibitor and I almost posted something to that effect a couple days ago, but time got away from me and I didn't get back to the thread.

But if Murdoch hadn't started this thread, we would have never known all this.

There was some hints of some staffing cuts. Did anyone lose their job at Catalis recently ? or is it business as usual ? Is the move about downsizing ?
It was a real post by a real person. I get an email out of the blue from a practice I do not know who says their EMR is going out of business. I call and talk with the practice manager and they tell me their EMR is Catalis and they are having trouble getting support and that employees are telling them the company is closing. I ask if they can get their data and they don't know. I don't want to go on a wild goose chase or get caught up in this so I call Catalis myself several times during the day (Tuesday). I tried calling every number on their website several times during the day but they all rang busy.
I hope Catalis is fine. EMR vendors really don't need others vendors having problems because it scares potential clients from all EMR and all vendors. There is more than enough new business out there that we don't need to chase conversion business.
Since someone mentioned my earlier post on support I will say this - I believe that an EMR is only as good as the support behind it and an EMR vendor should do everything possible to have their phones, full support, etc. working every business day (I would actually propose 95%+ of nights, weekends and holidays too as the physicians I know don't only practice during "working days"). This is just my opinion and not a dig at any other vendor.

Despite how 'real' the information seemed, it is anything but true. The phone system has been mildly problematic, but all of our customers were sent a fax explaining the circumstances and offering an alternate contact number. Support has continued unbroken throughout the past two weeks as we are moving our equipment and servers. The email system has stayed up through the process.
Without sharing any details, Catalis has undergone some changes which neccessitated the move. These changes should result in a more efficient and customer-driven model for us, and the best possible service for our customers.

I asked if their were job cuts.

Oh Lord.
How did this end up in "The Water Cooler".
There is nothing WaterCoolerish in this post.
Since when did whitewashing reality become a mandate here ?
Dr. M - please see my private reply as well as my most recent post in the Google: Catalis thread. Cheers!
