David Ruhland, NextGen Sales talks with emrupdate.com about how NextGen are providing EHR solutions for both large small one and two Doc practices. NextGen also use the HiMSS09 Chicago show to announce two programs in part response to teh Health IT Stimulus legislation: (1) A Money Back Guarantee providing real protection for Doctors adopting NextGen solutions and (2) A SaaS Software as a Service with a single month;y subscription for their software tier.

David and his team works with small practices typically supporting the one and two Doc practice. We asked how NextGen counters the perception that its solutions and target practices are the large multi-physician practice; David works exclusively with the smaller practice and solo physicians.

NextGen are part of Quality Systems Inc.

Always wanting to thank our sponsors for their continued support, emrupdate.com met with President and CEO Steve Plochocki and Chairman of the Board Sheldon Razin.

This coming Monday April 13 in celebration of 35 years listing on NASDAQ (QSI) Chairman Sheldon Razin will strike the opening bell on Wall Street celebrating 35-years of continuous trade on Wall Street. I asked if ‘35 years’ was enough service for one corporation and if retirement beckoned. “Not a chance, I’m still enjoying every day!” Shelly fired-back. I can’t think of a better reason for going to work everyday. Congratulations to the all the team at NextGen.

Just a quick correction Robert. While I am sure that David would appreciate the promotion, he probably would be the first to point out that he is one of our Sales Executives and not currently part of the management team. He is an excellent rep and is a good representation of the quality of our people and we appreciate emrupdate giving us the chance to speak directly to the readers of the board. In enjoyed seeing Nick at HIMSS, as always.

Bob,

I was glad to discover at the NextGen booth at ASCRS you had chosen to hire Tera on the basis of her posts on EMR update to help address some of the issues that ophthalmology users have encountered with the implementation of NextGen software.  It does indicate that your intentions are well placed.  You had offerred previously  on the prior topic "Trying not to make an EMR Mistake" that you would like a detailed list of issues we have encountered and Tera received that today from my practice administrator.  Much remains to be accomplished.  I look forward to progress.  I am contemplating a score card on EMR update.  This could potentially be a plus for NextGen.

Thanks Dr. Evans and I know you won't mind if I slightly correct your statement by saying that we hired Tera because of who she is and what her experience and expertise are -  which served as the basis for her posts here. As I think almost everyone does when looking for an employee, we hired her because she was a great fit for the position, which is the Specialty Director for Ophthalmology. She is a great blend of development, training and implementation and domain knowledge and will help up to stay where we are in Ophthalmology, the market segment leader. I am sure she will work to bring you and your practice up to full "happy" status. Thanks again for your post and feel free to contact me if ever you think I can be of service - but you are in good hands with Tera.

Bob,

I am very curious about that statement "market segment leader"  What is a the basis for that statement and is there a referrence you can provide that establishes the various companies and the numbers of ophthalmology users each company has live on EMR???

Hi Dr. Evans, A little over 2 years ago Allergan hired BSM Consulting to conduct a nationwide market share survey for ophthalmologists utilizing an EMR. Of the responses, 26% of the physicians indicated they were utilizing an EMR. 44% of those using ane EMR were users of NextGen, followed by Medinformatix in 2nd (11%), with the balance of 45% using a mish-mash of various vendors (the usual suspects). I would argue that we still have an overwhelming amount of marketshare as far as number of ophthalmology clients, however I doubt that the rest of the market has remained static. Out of the "remaining 45%" above, there are a few more identifiable players in the market (aka "the usual suspects"). Cheers, Patrick

Thanks,  I do recall others referrencing Allergan Access data.  Would be interesting to see how things have changed over the last few years as I suspect the denominator is much larger.

Thanks Robert. As I have mentioned in the past, Patrick and I post here on our own - we don't "assign" people to stuff like this. Tera is always free to post here and I am sure that she probably will. My guess though is that with ASCRS just wrapping up last week and her already having a lot of "new job" stuff to do, she is probably pretty busy. I will make sure she knows about your request though. Have a great holiday weekend!

Hello everyone Smile

Yes, I do hope to have the time to continue posting on here. I miss it. However, I am currently up to my ears with work at Nextgen.  As soon as I have a little free time I plan on being back.

Best Regards,

Tera

NextGen is expensive and bloated for the 1-2 doctor offices.

I've challenged NextGen in the past to make a video that goes through the start to finish editing of a template for say back pain.

But I don't think they were up to the challenge.

David, a video outlining template editing in NextGen would really help to highlight NextGen's usability on this front.
