I am encouraged to see that the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology’s (CCHIT) recent recommendations regarding “meaningful use” recognize the needs of a wide variety of specialties and not focus only on primary care. While some vendors of CCHIT-certified EMRs are suggesting that the bar must be set high, CCHIT is cautioning that failure by physicians to meet the meaningful use requirements will lead to “disillusionment and frustration with the ARRA incentive program.”

Regardless of the hopeful news from CCHIT, as the government continues to plan for widespread EHR adoption, the voice of many physicians concerning “meaningful use” requirements is still not being heard.  We are inviting you to sign our petition that we will be forwarding to President Obama, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Dr. David Blumenthal, the HIT Policy Committee, the HIT Standards Committee, and leading industry blogs.

Limiting the burden placed on the physicians is the basis of our “voice of the physician” campaign.  The silent majority needs to be louder; please join our campaign:
