Hello Everyone
We are a small consulting/billing office located in Texas. Through remote access we have provided service to medical offices in California, Idaho, New York, Louisiana, in addition to several other locations.
We have been in business since 1997. We have retained our original staff of 10 employees, most of whom are previous employees of software development operations. Our expertise covers IT problems, HIPAA compliance regulations, Patient flow management, as well as all aspects of medical claim billing. We are familiar with most clearinghouses including ENS, McKesson, Navicure, Availity, and our favorite Gateway EDI. In addition, we have used a myriad of software packages including EClinical Works, E-MDs, Medisoft, Centricity, Catalyst and Medical Manager.
In the past, we have specialized in accounts with huge AR delinquencies. We have been able to successfully collect over 92% of all claims rejected for timely filing issues.

Thank you
I tried to access your link and it did not work. Could you please post your company phone number.
Sounds like a red flag when their site redirects to website design company.

I agree, Graham...
The thing that comes to mind is how they fit into the clearinghouse maze. Once a service is rejected for "timely filing issues", it's DEAD. Can't revive a dead horse...

Anyone out there using Gateway EDI? They seem to look like a good outfit with monthly flat fee pricing...

Not really. You can still get your money if you can provide a good reason and documentation. A good biller should be able to fight that one too. Of course, the timely filing issue shouldn't come up in the first place if the biller is running a tight ship.
Never used Gateway, but I heard only good stuff about them.

I have recovered more than my share of 'timely filing issues' especially if done electronically.
Depending on your Practice Managment System, you can use EDI Reports from your system to show they were filed.
If your System gets the Carrier Reports showing the rejections, you can show good faith in filing after numerous rejections.
These work very well if you can provide and get both, because the will provider tracking, claim numbers and rejected claim reasons, or show they accepted if it gets lost in their maze or the abyss.
We have used this approach with my own Billing Company and have had good success.
Timely filing should not happen if you are working with a Billing Service, as claim payment is their bread and butter. Thats why aging and good reporting will help rather you are billing in house or using Billing Services
Easier at a busy practice without a solid billing staff to let claims slip through the cracks.
Thats my 2 Cents.

Hi Gail:
Got your note, I wanted to review your company and educate myself and see your link listed is down.
Do you have another site?
Thank you,
Norv
All,
It is true our old website is down at this time. We have a new PR firm who is working on getting our company back on the web.
As for the timely filing issues, much of our business comes from physicians who are already in trouble with their medical billing. In fact, over the last 8 years, we have seen this become the majority of our service. Older versions of PMR's do very limited editing prior to claims being sent to the clearinghouse. Therefore, it is very important to read each and every report from the clearinghouse and payors. For instance, UHC recently began denying preventive services that included basic in office testing, due to lack of 25 modifier on the preventive code. UHC has a 90 day timely filing rule that is nearly impossible to appeal. Ignoring those rejects for one or two months becomes a huge issue. We have been successful in getting most of these claims, denied for timely filing, paid. Most insurance companies will NOT take the EF report from the software as proof of timely filing. But, they will take a couple of other things. Please understand that I would not be a good business person if I gave away all my trade secrets.
We do not have timely filing issues on the medical claims that are sent from our office. That is inexcusable.
Regarding Gateway EDI, what I am impressed with the most is their customer service. It is very hard to get a "live" CSR on the phone who has an answer that you can trust. I have been using them since they began and consider them the first choice for new clients. They do lack the ability to correct a claim online and send it out, but I believe the error should be corrected in the software for permanent correction so that is not a problem for us.
Moving offices and giving as much personal attention to our clients as possible has kept me very busy, but I will try to check back more often.
Thank you and have a wonderful week.
Not yet. PR is working on it. We used an online service but it was not very edit friendly. We would like it to be more personal with pictures of our new office, staff, etc. I am being told it should be up by mid October, so keeping my fingers crossed.
I know its Sunday, and know people like to have a quiet day. Is there a good time to call you? Or you mail email me at dnorvell@medicalbillinginparadise.com
