MD-IT Releases Android App for Physicians

 

Summary: MD-IT’s new Android app for the Google operating system improves on previous mobile applications by offering the full Patient Chart View (PCV) for MD-IT’s EMR users.

Boulder, CO, September 7, 2011 – MD-IT, the leading provider of medical documentation software and service to ambulatory clinics and physician groups, announced today the release of MD-IT iConnect for the Android operating system, enabling smartphone dictation, direct access to the MD IT Platform, and a new feature that allows MD-IT’s EMR users to view a patient’s entire longitudinal history – right from their mobile device. Available immediately through Google’s Android Market, the free application allows physicians to join the mHealth revolution by enabling smartphone dictation with a direct schedule interface for quick and accurate clinical documentation.

“Following the launch of the MD-IT iConnect app for Apple products, we set out to improve how our future mobile applications would work, developing an app that harnesses the power of the industry’s only dictation-based EMR and furthering the mHealth experience for physicians,” said MD-IT CEO Tom Carson. “With Android overtaking Apple as the smartphone OS industry leader earlier this year, and a worldwide market share hovering around 50 percent, MD-IT is excited to be part of the dynamic, fast-paced Android world.”

MD-IT iConnect for Android has all the anytime, anywhere functionality of its sister application, MD IT iConnect for iPhone and iPod touch, incorporating a schedule interface that includes all patient demographic information, visit type and date, and a unique medical record number.

“Recent surveys have shown that physicians are ahead of the general population when it comes to smartphone adaptation, and the MD-IT iConnect for Android application responds to the demand for comprehensive, data rich apps that are easy and intuitive to use,” said MD-IT Product Manager Evan Frankel.

Exclusive to the Android version, users can make use of a demonstration mode to explore and experiment with the Patient Chart View (PCV) even if they do not yet have the MD-IT EMR. Users can click “demo mode” to see the how the EMR functions in a simulated environment. This device-specific app showcases the convenience and safety of the Android OS while allowing users to take see the advantages of MD-IT’s EMR, the only EMR on the market driven by narrative notes.
