    e-MDs Next Generation of Software

    From another thread:  http://www.emrupdate.com/forums/56035/ShowThread.aspx#56035

This definitely does not need to be buried in another thread but rather deserves its own.

Re: e-MDs Next Generation of Software

The product I have played with runs on an individual workstation.  In fact, it will run off a flash drive (which is why I refer to it as lean).  I'm not sure how they will make it scalable nor what backend will be used.  As it stands now, queries/searches are very fast.

Furthermore, the new product will allow mobility, which is a criticism I have voiced previously about e-MDs.  It can be used for hospital and nursing home rounds.  I presume they will have some sort of database synchronization feature.

Dr Winn,  will this be scalable over a network?  Preferably a backend that is easy on the pocket book like MySQL ?  (Its new versions are robust!)

Will it also interact with your PMS ?

I don't want to give away too many trade secrets, but the answer is yes, it is highly scaleable.  It is based on MS XAML and WPF and will be an augmentation to our full suite of products - but will work as a stand alone product for doctors that do not need or want our full suite of products.  Because it is limited in scope, it will not be CCHIT certified.  However, by adding on a few modules you will have the CCHIT certified product - if that is important to you.  What can be done with these new technologies is just amazing.

Thank you.  So, when it comes available in ~ 15 months, will one have to purchase the whole suite of eMDS or just this one?

For those who already have eMDS, will this integrate smoothly into the existing software?  What kind of cost are we looking at?

    All sounds intriguing.

will charts be stored as XML documents in the db?     will there be a designer to layout templates any way the user wants?

The new GUI is a wrapper to access all e-MDs functions.  It will work seamlessly with our other modules.  When used as a stand alone product, it will not have our extensive template library.  However, the product is completely customizable and will allow users to build their own templates extremely easily and it will collect codified data (SnoMed) and output in the CCR format.  Final cost has not been determined, but it will competitive with AC and SoapWare.

You guys are going to get me knocked off by my own management if I spill any more beans on our plans.

Re: e-MDs Next Generation of Software

As stated previously, this is the software I've been looking for now for about 8 years.  From what I've seen thus far, this new software will smoke Amazing Charts, Soapware, and programs of the same ilk.

Sorry for the generic recommendations; not really sure how much more Dr. Winn wants revealed.

The Next Version of Software is like new drugs.

"Make sure you use it in the first 6 months, because after that it doesnt work".

Kidding aside, I am curious about the new eMDs as well.

But my general rule of thumb is: "Don't believe the hype, it's a sequel".
