I understand that Medisoft version 12 is coming out in early 2007.

I would like to buy *** USED *** Medisoft.

My needs for the software is simple, but I do need Medisoft.

Where can I buy used Medisoft?

Is anyone interested in selling me a copy?

Hi

I am an avid do it yourselfer and thrifty doc, (physics major worked in aerospace acoustics lab...been building Heath kits since childhood) but why would you want used software?   The serial number is attached to the other doc permanently and you won't be able to upgrade or bill electronically as the SN and TAT # likewise linked.  Plus the software is so cheap, who cares?  Medisoft, like most of these companies makes their money not on selling you the software, but on charging us $200/hour to install, register, and learn to use the software, if they can find docs dumb or busy enough farming out their admin and back office.  Buy your software new and find a doc and/or biller who can help you set it up.  It can be tricky, v 9 requires a little file called HCFA11.exe and HCFAFILE.exe which you have to download off of their website.  And you can't pay them to set up your CPT codes and ICD codes...only you know which ones you use.  Of course they won't tell you that unless you give them an extra $1000 in tech support fees.  I learned that from a biller.  If you are technically good, get on all of the Medisoft websites and research intallation etc.  It will take you hours but in the end it is worth it.  You can call me if you can catch me. I am pretty expert with Medisoft and Medilync.  Trying to learn 2kmobile now.  Tell me about yourself...are you new in practice or nearly retired?  I am in the middle of moving from Michigan to TN.  Talk to y'all later.  I have lots of time to chat as I drive a few hundred miles a day for now.

To my knowledge, Medisoft does not install or train on the use of their software. Instead, they rely on valued added resellers (VARS) for this. The original Medisoft v9 install included the wrong HCFA11.exe and HCFAFILE.exe, but that was fixed in service pack 1. You really should load the latest service pack which contains many fixes rather than just downloading HCFAFILE. Codes on Disk 2007 is available to load the Medisoft database with the latest ICD9/CPT/HCPC codes, but you still need to setup your own fee schedule.

Medisoft licenses are non-transferable. That means if you are using software registered to another practice, you are breaking the software license agreement.

Dr. Vigor, would you mind chatting about the use of Medilync?

Dr. Carey Vigor,
I'm very computer savvy, so I know how to use Medisoft.
To submit claims electronically, choose the "paper" method, and then choose "Export the report to file" for print selection, which generates a text file.  Upload that text file to some web-based submitter.  As you can see, you don't need the serial number to submit claims electronically.  The software is not cheap.  It's $1000 for advanced, and $2000 for network.  You need the advanced version to add the NY C-4 Workers Comp module, which is a rip-off.  If I do remote login via WinXP Remote Desktop, I can't launch Medisoft unless it's the network version.  So, even if I have only one computer and a single user, I still need to get the network version because I need to do Remote Desktop.  Again, a rip-off.
The Medisoft representative told  a doctor friend that to upgrade from version 9 to version 11, he must go through version 10, so now he must pay a double upgrade to come up to 11.  Medisoft license policies and business practices are unfair and unethical.
What I need is Medisoft version 11 advanced network with the C-4 NY Workers Comp module.  Now that version 12 is coming out in a few weeks, I'm assuming that most people will through away their version 11.

Arctic, you really should check around with some other Medisoft VARs. As a Medisoft reseller myself I can tell you that much of what you say is incorrect.

1. Your answer to submit claims electronically depends on which EMC module and/or clearinghouse that you use.

2. It is possible to configure Medisoft Advanced (or Basic for that matter) to work under remote desktop.

3. You can upgrade straight from version 9 to version 11. There is no need to buy version 10 first. In fact, you can upgrade from any version of Medisoft to any newer version of Medisoft. I have upgraded a version 4 to 11 before.

Hey Linux,
Medisoft v10 SP2 won't launch if you connect to the server via Remote Desktop.
However, Medisoft does launch if I connect via VNC (TightVNC).
Medisoft runs via Remote Desktop if Medisoft is already launched prior to Remote Desktop connection.
I have to connect via VNC (TightVNC) and launch Medisoft, and then disconnect VNC, and reconnect via Remote Desktop.
Medisoft "thinks" that I'm trying to do network stuff when I try to launch it via Remote Desktop, but not when I try to launch it via VNC.  Obviously VNC and Remote Desktop connect differently.

Hey gwalker, please test and confirm that you can launch Medisoft v11 SP3 (single user) via Remote Desktop.  I would be interested in upgrading from v10 SP2 to v11 SP3.  I would also need the C-4 New York Workers Comp module.

Arctic, I have Medisoft Advanced v11 SP2 running on my server via Remote Desktop right now. If you want to contact me privately, we can setup a session on my server for you to check it out for yourself. It does not work right out of the box running under Remote Desktop - you have to know how to configure this. If you purchase the software from me, I'll tell you how. Service pack 3 is not available yet, so I don't have it to test with. Regarding the C4 New York Workers Comp module, are you talking about a custom billing report and custom tabs that were setup by another VAR? If so, then your existing module will continue to work on version 11 assuming it works just fine with Medisoft Advanced v10.

We bought medisoft v10 early in 2006.

Now we are going to be required to add NPI numbers.

Medisoft is saying you must upgrade to newest evrsion to tget this capability.

We use a clearinghouse and so have managed to add the NPI at the clearinghouse level.

But know other Medisoft users who have been forced to upgrade.

I'll be glad to burn off another copy of the CD. I think I have version 7.1 here. We'll just charge you shipping and handling for that. I just don't have any more serial numbers to issue for that old of a version of Medisoft. You'll still need  your serial number and registration code  if you are installing this on a new computer. Also, keep in mind, we don't support Medisoft v7 on Windows Vista and if this is Medisoft "For Networks", then the data host machine must be Windows 98 or Windows ME.
