Earlier this year the state had to reverse a cutback as the new healthcare reform disallowed states to reduce their eligibility and now basically it looks like they are looking for relief somewhere along the line here to reduce it in another fashion. We are probably all aware of the Medicaid transplant rules which were all over national news and one patient has already died as with applying those algorithmic formulas made the patient not eligible for the organ. Again I wonder how they all come to terms and project budget needs overall and if other areas have been explored?

So is this the solution to just cut funds and not allow care for those who need it? There has to be a better way and this clearly goes to show the present business models for insurance are not sustainable and perhaps we will be default lean towards a single payer plan as when death panels and choices as such are made States and the US really fall down on the job as far as providing medical care. Certainly there’s other areas where costs should be reduced with drugs and devices as well, but one area that is huge and created big Wall Street profits is the overall organization of how payables are done, the intangible cost that runs in the background that nobody takes the time to full explore and evaluate as it is above the understanding of most who are doing budgets. We can’t continue to support all the systems that exist today as the transactions keep feeding themselves additional revenue with new mathematical formulas.

To reset all the IT systems put in place at this point is also cost prohibitive and thus repeal of reform is too costly as well. It’s all about those algorithms and the formulas and profits they create. BD

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said Thursday she'll ask for a waiver under the federal health care overhaul so Arizona can reduce its Medicaid rolls to lower costs that Brewer and fellow Republicans say the cash-short state can't afford. If approved, the change could mean the loss of government-funded health care for hundreds of thousands of people.

Brewer's administration previously said it might request a waiver, but the governor on Thursday said "yes we are" when asked directly whether she would.

"We need flexibility from the federal government in order to get our state budget in line," she said.

Brewer spokesman Paul Senseman later said details of the waiver request are still being decided, including how many people could lose coverage.

This is what happens when you allow people to make decisions that have no medical input and rely on algorithmic formulas supplied from insurers like United Healthcare. When you watch the video it’s a call for outrage as they basically say “well the patient is going to die anyway”. They now claim they were given bad information from the Medicaid office, give me a break as this is an excuse for making unethical decisions. If they had anyone with a brain they should look at getting reductions on the cost of data services and using cloud services. Companies are rich due to auditing algorithms and this is an area beyond where most lawmakers tend to educate themselves and thus illiteracy allows for huge profits in this area, the duh group. The link below shows some comparisons if you want to look at how algorithmic formulas make millions and is definitely an area where savings could be seen.

Nationally though we have a Senate that dropped funds for cloud computer too, so again illiteracy on how IT systems work and those folks should get some Algo Men around to help them soon or we will hear of more illiterate and non ethical decisions on the part of those who do not know how to interpret and use data as such. Until folks educate themselves, the folks that create the formulas just keep compromising the illiterate for financial gain, time for a wake up call for the IT illiterate.

Lobbyists and special interest groups though love the illiterate as they are easy to manipulate and show a few formulas and completely convince them to get what they want, lobbyists and illiteracy in IT makes for some very questionable circumstances and we see this in the news with the next OMG story that hits every day. You can read at the link below where the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured offered their 2 cents and stated that medical information was lacking in their decisions so others in big places are recognizing the ignorance and illiteracy of properly using reports and statistics, it’s a big white elephant in the living room.

I almost hate to say I am from that state and many years ago worked for the State for around 6 years and some of the mentalities of the 70s that was there then still live today. The governor is not known for her brains for goodness sakes and there are certainly other areas where cuts could have been entertained.

Democrats are requesting a special session or transfer of other available funds and again from what I have heard the governor doesn’t have even a high school degree so how in the world could she be effective enough to understand algorithmic formulas. We have more illiterate waste in the system with those who do not understand economics and/or mathematical formulas and are easily swayed when a company like United gives them figures but this is no excuse for non ethical decisions which should be understood at any level. There are people with lives attached to those numbers.
