  • Poor Understanding Of Medicare Leads To Worse Healthcare Access

When you look at the system, even folks like me who are not in the senior category have issues at times as the system, along with those in place by the insurers get more complicated every day, so what, who, and where still continue to be on the horizon for trying to figure out the complicated algorithms...

  • CMS spending more time on Guidelines For Medicare Sales Agents

This brings about a good question when it comes to paying commissions on selling health insurance, why do we need to pay this and not have some additional revenues paid here go towards claims?  The reason I say this is so many of the health insurance brokers are just web sites that bring many carriers...

  • ICD-10 Coding, is this a reality or a myth at present?

I am sure we are all in agreement that the new codes will allow for a better reporting system, but let’s first take a look at today and what is needed for a successful roll out, first off, money, something everyone seems to be running short of today. Second, is education, doctors, medical staff, etc...

  • Medical Quack on the Wall Street Journal – November 2008

Two featured posts this week.  Court Blocks White House Push on Medicare Expenses   This particular statement really bothers me, is CMS now going to take on the role of “doctor here?   “The Bush administration argued that Medicare officials had the right to decide whether the expense incurred...

  • Medicare's No-Pay Rule Is Small Potatoes for Hospitals' Bottom Line

Small potatoes maybe in the overall picture, but where I go for health care as far as a hospital may be one of the 50% in this country that are bordering on insolvency, so add on a legal suit to one of the “never-never” rules and then what happens?  I am not speaking of wrong side surgeries, but...

  • Medicare rules ban cold-calling by insurers and will use “secret shoppers”

There is a potential fine for violators and they cannot initiate the call, the consumer has to initiate, but once that is done then it is pretty much up to the consumer once more to make that bone crushing decision, as it’s not getting any easier or simpler to choose.  It’s shame this has to be...

  • Hospice Group Sues Bush Administration to Stop Cut in Medicare Payment

Hospice is not an issue anyone really wants to take a full look at, that is unless you or a family member are impacted.  Budget cuts are already making things difficult in this area, so sad we have to resort to continued legal actions to allow the funds needed to care for seniors who need the care...
